Kindergarten & First Grade Softball
This program is for girls currently enrolled in Kindergarten and First Grade during the current School Year. The season starts the first week in May and runs through early June. It will be held on Tuesday nights from 5:30-6:30 and Saturday Mornings from 9:15-10:30 at Wheelock School. Games will be played on Tuesday evenings and skills clinics will be held on Saturday mornings.
Kindergarten and First Grade Softball is a new program established in 2023, the program will focus on the FUN-damentals of softball. The girls will start with T Stands and progress to coach pitch. We will not keep score, but will introduce the girls to the basic rules of the game.
- Format: On Saturday’s, there will be a skills clinic followed by a 1 inning game (coach pitch), and will end with a relay race around the bases. During the clinics, we will mix the players from the various teams to participate in hitting/fielding/throwing stations. When there is an opportunity to do so, we will introduce scrimmages against various surrounding towns for those that are interested (Medway, Millis etc).
- Equipment: Players are expected to have a helmet with a cage, a glove, and a bat is recommended but not required. Jerseys will be provided. Cleats are not required (you can use cleats from other sports at this age). Coaches will have some shared equipment.
2nd & 3rd Grade Softball
This program is for girls enrolled in 2nd or 3rd grade during the current school year. Game times and locations vary as this is a travel league. Teams will be balanced, there are no tryouts.
- Equipment: Players are expected to have a helmet with a cage, a glove, and a bat is recommended but not required. Players are also encouraged (not required) to wear a fielding mask. Uniforms will be purchased separately, please contact your grade coordinator for details.
4th & 5th Grade Softball
This program is for girls enrolled in 4th or 5th grade during the current school year. Game times and locations vary as this is a travel league. Teams will be balanced, there are no tryouts.
- Equipment: Players are expected to have a helmet with a cage, a glove, and a bat is recommended but not required. Players are required to wear a fielding mask as they are transitioning to a hard ball. Uniforms will be purchased separately, please contact your grade coordinator for details.
6th, 7th & 8th Grade Softball
This program is for girls enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade during the current school year. Game times and locations vary as this is a travel league. Teams will be balanced, there are no tryouts.
