Update to Fall Baseball Program:

MYBS is looking to modify the Fall Baseball program to provide a better experience for all participants.  The 1st/2nd grade program will stay the same, however the older grades will see a significant change in the program due to the changing demand and availaibility of teams to play.  Prior to COVID, MYBS participated in the Sharon Fall Ball League.  The previous two years there has not been a Fall league so we've organized games with surrounding towns.  Starting in Fall 2022, we hope to create a league with smaller towns around Medfield (like Norfolk, Medway, etc.) to have a small travel baseball season.  We will form balanced teams of combined grades (3rd/4th or 5th/6th) to compete.  The number of teams depends on the number of participants.

Registration will open once we've worked through the new league's participants, likely the end of July.

Previous Seasons Information

Fall Baseball
Medfield Youth Baseball's Fall Baseball program will include kids entering 1st through 7th grade in the Fall.  There will be 4 divisions to keep the kids in an age/ability appropriate level: 1st & 2nd grade, 3rdgrade, 4th & 5th grade and finally 6th & 7th grade.  The season will run from approx. Aug 28 until early October with playoffs and Championship games (The Medfield Fall Classic) for some of the divisions the week thereafter. All teams involved will have field time (games and/or practices) at Metacomet as well as at McCarthy Park with as many games per team as possible at Metacomet. There will be some away games at the Sharon complex for the 2 older divisions.

1st/2nd Grade: Going into 1st or 2nd grade in the fall
The combined 1st and 2nd grade division will be a continual reinforcement of FUNdamentals with sessions of organized drills with trained coaches, followed by a 2 or 3 inning scrimmage (coaches pitch). There will not be any standings or playoffs.

3rd Grade: Going into 3rd grade in the fall
The 3rd grade division will be an introduction to "real" baseball. The emphasis in this division is on fun and continued reinforcement of Fundamental Baseball Skills with coaches (for consistency). These are critical years for the kids to pick-up the correct skills and techniques and drop bad habits while still correctable. Kids will pitch, with a phase in of strike and ball counts, scoring and kid catching. Focus will be to prepare kids for next phase of little league baseball. There may be the possibility of games against a surrounding town as part of the Sharon Fall League.

4th & 5th Grade: Going into 4th or 5th grade in the fall
Depending on the number of teams, the 4th/5th
division will play/practice once during the week (if there are two teams they can have a game) as well as an away game each Saturday against other towns that play in the Sharon Fall program. Coaches will schedule a mid-week practice.

6th & 7th Grade: Going into 6th or 7th grade in the fall
Depending on the number of teams, the 6th/7th division will play/practice once during the week (if there are two teams they can have a game) as well as an away game each Saturday against other towns that play in the Sharon Fall program. Coaches will schedule a mid-week practice.

In order to guarantee placement in this fall league, we require sign-ups by August 20.  If a player misses the deadline for sign-ups, he will be placed on an alternate list.  All players who sign-up on time can play in the Medfield Fall League.
