Welcome to Medfield Youth Baseball & Softball MYBS is committed to providing Medfield families the opportunity to play the great games of baseball and softball!
There are typically three seasons that we offer programs Spring, Summer and Fall.
- Spring Baseball: Spring is our 'recreational' season for all anyone to participate regardless of skill/experience/ability. Grades 1, 2, and 3 have their own in-town divisions where format progresses from coach pitch in 1st, modified coach pitch in 2nd and real games in 3rd grade. All 4th and some 5th graders play in "AAA", prior to the season there will be tryouts for 5th graders to play with the 6th graders in our "majors" division.
- Spring Softball: Programs will have combined grades (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th). 1st & 2nd grade is a 'Fun-damentals' program where players learn the basics and work towards a simulated game experience. Older grades participate in the Metrowest Softball travel program playing towns like Hollistion, Ashland, etc.
- Summer Baseball: Summer is our competitive travel season (w/ try-outs), rising 3rd graders will participate in the Friendship League. Older players will participate in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL), this program is age based following little league birthdate requirements. There will be a 'sandlot' style program for all rising 2nd graders.
- Summer Softball: MYBS will follow a similar format as Spring for grades 3 and up.
- Fall Baseball: 1st & 2nd grade is a 'Fun-damentals' introduction program, grades 3 through 7 will participate in a new league (est 2022) that will play a combined travel and in-town program against towns like Norfolk, Needham, Sharon, etc. This is a travel program, but it is not as competitive as Summer baseball and teams will be balanced (no tryouts).
- Fall Softball: 1st & 2nd grade is a 'Fun-damentals' introduction program, older grades will participate in a travel program similar to Summer and Spring.
